Tutosquad Quick Guide : Enabling Port 80 Proxy in Centova Cast

The port 80 proxy in Centova Cast is typically disabled to avoid conflicts with existing web servers on the same port. However, if you need to enable it, follow these steps carefully for a smooth configuration.

By default, Centova Cast assumes that your server has an existing web server on port 80. To enable the port 80 proxy, you must ensure there’s an available IP address where no existing web server is running. Here are two ways to achieve this:

  1. Remove Existing Web Server: If you’re not using the existing web server for any websites, the simplest method is to remove it entirely.
  2. Multiple IP Addresses: Ensure you have multiple IP addresses on your server. Reconfigure the existing web server so that it does not use the IP address intended for the port 80 proxy.

Reconfiguring an existing web server may involve complex steps and depends on various factors. For assistance, contact your hosting provider or systems administrator.

To change the IP address used by Centova Cast’s web proxy, edit the configuration file at /usr/local/centovacast/etc/web.d/cc-proxy.conf. Refer to the documentation within that file for guidance.

Finally, to enable the port 80 proxy, run the following commands:

/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/setproxy on
restart Centova Cast

If executed without errors, the port 80 proxy is ready for use and can be enabled for each account on the Limits tab of the account settings.
